Clay

Clay Material is mined from multiple locations and can come in a variety of different colors and consistencies. we deem any soils with a plasticity over 20 as clay material. Typical applications for clay would be on projects where a highly cohesive soil is desired to limit penetration of water or to limit erosion in certain areas. However, clay can be used in many other applications where high plasticity is not of concern.

Topsoil

Topsoil is an unscreened/unprocessed material generally mined from soils occurring within the top 6 to 18 inches of natural ground. This unscreened topsoil is a cost-effective product that provides some of the organic qualities of a more expensive screened product. However, being that it is an unscreened/unprocessed product it may contain some impurities in the form of clay clods or small roots.

Common Fill

Common Fill is terminology used to describe any fill material that does not require a certain specification to be met. Common Fill will mostly be delivered as a clay type 11 material. However, the range of consistencies, color, and other characteristics can vary from location to location. Typically, common fill is the most cost-effective product that can be used when no specifications are required on your project.

Crushed Concrete

We also sell recycled crushed concrete in the form of 3”x5” “Bullrock” and Crushed Concrete “Flex Base”. Flex Base typically contains recycled crushed concrete with a gradation of 1.5” down to fines. And 3”x5” Bullrock contains recycled crushed concrete with a gradation of 3”-5” with no fines. Typical applications include stabilized construction access, rock filter dams, laydown yards, staging areas, all weather roads, or sub-base for asphalt or concrete paving.

Asphalt

Asphalt is a mixture of aggregates, binder, and filler, used for constructing and maintaining roads, parking areas, railway tracks, ports, airport runways, bicycle lanes, sidewalks, and play- and sport areas. Aggregates used for asphalt mixtures could be crushed rock, sand, gravel, or 12 slags. Nowadays, certain waste and byproducts, such as construction and demolition debris, are being used as aggregates, which increases the sustainability of asphalt. To bind the aggregates into a cohesive mixture a binder is used. Most commonly, bitumen is used as a binder, although nowadays, a series of bio-based binders are also under development with the aim of minimizing the environmental impact of the roads. An average asphalt pavement consists of the road structure above the formation level which includes unbound and bituminous bound materials. This gives the pavement the ability to distribute the loads of the traffic before it arrives at the formation level. Normally, pavements are made of different layers.

Pea Gravel

Pea gravel can be defined as gravel consisting of small chipped and rounded stones the size of peas, hence the name. It is used in landscaping to provide a soft, uniform natural look and pathways that are very comfortable to walk on. It is used as a driving surface and in construction for aggregate concrete cells and surfaces. We carry pea gravel from several sources in Southern Arizona. This pebble blend will pass a 3/8″ screen (9.5mm) and be retained on a No. 4 (4.75 mm) sieve. Manufacturing processes and product tones and shape of the pebbles very

River Rock

River rocks can serve many purposes from drainage to decoration in a landscape. A common feature in Japanese 13 gardens, they are culled from actual rivers or sometimes from beach deposits. Different from other, sharperedged gravels and pebbles, they have been worn and smoothed by moving water, colliding rocks, or the abrasive effect of sand.

Mulch

Mulch is a layer of loose organic matter such as straw, cut grass, crushed branches, leaves and other similar materials, which are used to cover the soil.

Helps maintain a favorable soil condition because, as they come from plant materials, destruction occurs, leading to several positive effects on both soil and plants. Some of the physical effects they produce are: When mulch is mixed into the topsoil, the material keeps the soil more moist and generally increases root growth. Significantly reduces evaporation or transpiration, making irrigation less frequent.

Mulch improves and stabilizes the soil structure, acts as a buffer, reduces soil compaction and favors moisture retention.

Please Note: This request is a way of getting “FREE DIRT” and is available as first come basis, at times the dirt can become available the same day depending on the job and it will be delivered most of the time via dump trucks (10-12 yards). There’s a small delivery fee to offset the fuel cost to deliver the dirt outside the job area. We have jobs throughout the city of Houston and surrounding areas, please let us know if you have a dirt request and we will do our best to fulfil your request as soon as the material becomes available.
